The 3" Black Jewel Orchid is a beautiful addition to any home, wether its as a houseplant or inside of a vivarium! This plant is known for it's foliage rather than it's bloom, it's leaves are a dark purple/reddish color with contrasting white stripes! This Orchid is not an ephiphyte and intead prefers to grow terrestrally or on your substrate!
With Pets- The Jewel orchid has long been a favorite in the terrium/vivarium hobby! It's compact size (6-12in at maturity) makes it ideal for enclosures and it's nontoxic nature helps as well!
Native to- This plant is native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia
Lighting- If being grown as a houseplant this plant prefers indirect or diffused lighting with medium to low intensity. It can be grown under bright office lights if chosen to be a work plant.
If this plant is being used in a BioActive Vivarium or terrarium it is fine with low light and is recommended to be placed under the canopy of other plants in your space!
Humidity- The Black Jewel orchid thrives in high humidity environments, 65-95%! It likes to have consistantly moist substrate but doesn't want to be waterlogged.
